Number of enforced disappearances in February has increased by 10 per cent compared to January 2022: BHRC

According to data collected by the London based human rights advocacy organization, Baloch Human Rights Council (BHRC), the number of enforced disappearances has increased by 10 per cent compared to January 2022. The related details published in BHRC’s February 2022 newsletter are as follows:

February 1, 2022

Security forces picked up two persons from District Kech on January 31, 2022, and their whereabouts are still unknown. Two disappeared persons were named Ismail Aftab and Saeedullah from Tehsil Mand of the district.

February 3, 2022

Security forces killed one person from the Panjgur district on February 2, 2022. The deceased was named Ihtesham, son of Master Ghulam Sarwar

February 4, 2022

A local death squad affiliated with the Interservice Intelligence agency (ISI) picked up Altaf, son of Jadan, from Tejaban village of District Kech last night. His mutilated body was discovered today.

February 5, 2022

Security forces picked up two persons from Kili Jamaldini of Nushki District, and their whereabouts are still unknown.

Three persons from Sibi districts who became the victims of enforced disappearance were named Hayat, son of Zangi, Atoor Gorgeij and Hashim Domki. The mutilated body of Hashim Domki was later found in the Mach region of Bolan District.

Security forces abducted Muhammad Khan, son of Nabi Bakhsh Bugti from Dera Murad Jamali, in another incident.

The security agencies also picked up social worker Nadeen Hasrat from the Kech district, and his whereabouts are unknown.

Security forces raided a house in Mengal Street Quetta and picked up Haroon, son of Haji Nisar Ahmed. His whereabouts are unknown

February 7, 2022

Security forces abducted social activist Malik Miran from Panjgur District, Balochistan. But, according to his brother, security agencies are not informing the family about where he is being kept.

February 9, 2022

Yahya Raees, son of Haji Maqbool Ahmed from Bonistan village of Panjgur District, became the victim of enforced disappearances when security forces picked him up. Meanwhile, Muhammad Hashim from Sui, Dera Bugti District, Naeem from Gokdan Kech District disappeared by the security forces on the same day.

February 10, 2022

Members of the death squad affiliated with the security forces of Pakistan harassed a social gathering of the Christian community in Hub, Bela District of Balochistan. First, they beat up many wedding ceremony participants injuring many, including children and women. Then, they left the site after firing in the air for many minutes.

February 11, 2022

Artist masoor Answer from Gramkan village of Panjgur was picked up by the security forces and transferred to an unknown location. His family is not being informed about his whereabouts.

February 12, 2022

The security forces arrested the district president of Kalat teacher’s association Kefayatullah Langau and his whereabouts are still unknown. In the Dera Murad Jamali district of Balochistan, two persons became the victim of enforced disappearances. They were named as Bakhtiar son of Hamza and Sahib son of Hamza.

February 13, 2022

Two minors named Saud Sarpara and Sudish Nisar became the latest victims of enforced disappearances from the same family in Faizabad, Quetta District. Farhad Sarpara and Saqib Sarpara from the same family have already been picked up by the security forces early this month.

In another incident, Nazeer Ahmed, son of Noor Muhammad, was picked up by the members of army affiliated death squad from Khuzdar District Balochistan.

From different parts of Balochistan, three unidentified and mutilated bodies were recovered, believed to be the victims of enforced disappearances.

February 14, 2022

Muhammad Ali, son of Dinar from Tirteij, Awaran District, who was arrested by the security forces on February 11, was tortured to death.

February 17, 2022

Yasir, son of Nasser and Wajoo, son of Mazar from Huzzai Mand, District Kech, were picked up by the death squad members, and their whereabouts are still unknown.

The mutilated body of an unidentified person was recovered from Eastern Bypass, Quetta District. These unknown or unidentified bodies are believed to be the victims of the phenomenon of enforced disappearances.

February 18, 2022

Blogger and youtube movie maker artist Waris Wafa was picked up by the security forces in the Kech District.

February 19, 2022

Nabeel, son of Liaqat of village Gomazi, Kech District, was picked up by the security forces.

February 21, 2022

Two persons from the Parom area of Panjgur District were picked up by the army-backed death squad were named Hameed, son of Murid and Muhammad Rahim, son of Qader Bakhsh.

February 22, 2022

Ali Haidar, son of Sajoo from the Greishah area of Khuzdar District, was picked up by security forces from Nal Bazar.
