BHRC has announced the details of its events in Geneva during the 45th session of UNHRC in September.

The Baloch Human Rights Council (BHRC) has announced the details of its activities in Geneva during the 45th session of the UN Human Rights Council in September this year.

“Due to various kinds of restrictions because of the corona epidemic, BHRC has reduced the number of its activities”, read the statement.

According to a BHRC press release, BHRC colleagues will be participating in four events during their stay in Geneva.

  1. Interventions on item 3 and 4: BHRC colleagues will deliver statements during the Item 3 and 4 General Debates, commenting on the socio-cultural, economic and human rights violations in Balochistan.
  2. Conference/Seminar: A conference/Seminar will be jointly held by BHRC and World Sindhi Congress (WSC) in the Royal Hotel, Geneva on 24 September. The topic of the conference will be: “The call for international intervention in Sindh and Balochistan: legal and humanitarian aspects“. Prominent speakers are expected to shed light on the issue.
  3. Demonstration: A demonstration to highlight the atrocities being committed in Balochistan will be held at the Broken Chair on 25th September.
  4. Memorandum/Petition. A memorandum regarding the human rights situation in Balochistan will be submitted to Michelle Bachelet, head of United Nations High Commission for Human rights on 25th September.

The BHRC has been advocating for the right to self-determination of the people of Balochistan since its inception in 2008. It has arranged numerous campaigns in Europe and North America, highlighting the various human rights and humanitarian challenges facing the Baloch in Iran and Pakistan to persuade the international community and the United Nations to intervene in Balochistan and investigate the gross violations of human rights that should be followed by accountability measures and prosecutions.
